Therapy for depression & feeling stuck
in California and New York
Nothing exciting, let alone fulfilling.
It might feel like you’re carrying an invisible weight that never lifts. Everyday tasks might feel overwhelming, even getting out of bed or responding to a text. Perhaps it’s an emptiness, a sense of detachment from the things and people you once cared about, or pretending everything is fine because it’s easier than facing the discomfort of opening up. The world around you might seem dull and flat, as if the color and joy have been drained from it, leaving you stuck in a fog that won’t clear.
On the other hand, you may not feel down, but you don’t feel fulfilled. It seems you’re just going through the motions, or on auto-pilot, and you’re not inspired, motivated, or finding meaning in what you’re doing. You may know what you want to change but feel paralyzed by indecision, a lack of energy to take the first step, or feel completely clueless on how to add life back into life.

Therapy provides a supportive space,
to better understand what’s going on in your inner world— your thoughts, beliefs, emotions, mindset— and your outer world that are contributing to these feelings of depression, being stuck or feeling lost. The space will explore how to be contact with difficult emotions, while identifying small, tangible ways to engage in a life that feels more purposeful.
what we’ll work on
Addressing depression and stuck-ness in therapy
Therapy with me will help process the emotional distress you’re facing, while gaining practical skills to challenge unhelpful thought patterns, shift your relationship with emotions, and be able to take meaningful action. We’ll explore how to create more joy. Joy doesn’t necessarily mean feeling happy all the time; it means finding more ease, especially with the tough parts of life.
We will develop a plan that includes:
- identifying and dismantling your self-limiting beliefs
- teaching you about mindfulness and how to practice it, to reduce rumination and connect more deeply to life
- developing skills to get distance from your thoughts, so that they have less power
- strengthening your self-compassion and self-worth
- clarifying your core values to cultivate more purpose and meaning.

We cannot get rid of emotions, even the most difficult ones like sadness. But we can learn to manage difficult emotions in a different way so that they don’t completely overwhelm and take over. Instead of battling sadness or tough emotions, to “get rid” of ever feeling them, we can listen to the wisdom of what emotions are trying to tell us, and then use healthy coping strategies to get back on track.

Therapy is the perfect starting point for addressing sadness, hopelessness and feeling lost. We begin with introspection and exploring, with compassion and curiosity, what goes on in your inner world and how your trauma, past, and present are impacting your mood and energy. This insight is invaluable for healing and moving forward. But therapy alone isn’t enough. The real magic in between sessions when you apply skills and practices (that you learn in session!) to daily life. I have all the tools to help you succeed in this.

Life is, unfortunately, full of distress. The difficult experiences, phases, emotions and thoughts are all built into being human and it can be downright painful at times. But therapy can change how you hold and react to this pain, so that moments feel less intense. You can both make space for your pain and hold it tenderly, while also cultivating joy and purpose.
